Case Study

In 2024 we helped an investor remediate a failing AI startup by identifying blind spots, pivoting their product offering and tuning marketing activities.

 

A HealthTech fund invested in what the founder thought was an employee wellness startup. After 28 months, the startup still didn’t have any paying clients. Despite being at the forefront of emotional intelligence for AI, it was failing because the founder wasn’t executing basic startup activities.

 

3TGTM pivoted the startup from selling the wellness app for $5 per user/month to selling access to the emotional intelligence transformer via the API for $2,000 per client/month plus 5 cents per API call. This decision was based on customer interviews, competitive pricing analysis, market analysis, financial viability and technical feasibility. Development for the new product only took two weeks and the number of clients needed to achieve break even dropped from 8,666 to 36.

 

A few, simple activities resulted in a soon to be profitable startup offering desirable, cutting edge technology to clients. Subsequently, the fund was able to sell the company.
